How hard is it to get use to Manual Transmission? (Stick shift)?
Hey I'm 15, almost 16, with a Florida permit and have been looking at a lot of cars with manual transmission, mostly because of the increased performance and exclusive trims to manual transmission cars. Mainly I'm looking at the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X MR. How hard is it to get a hold of the flow of using manual shift to the point where it's like riding a bike.
It really isn't that hard to learn or get used to. I would say though don't make an EVO the first manual you drive. One, it's a high performance car that WILL NOT be forgiving of any mistakes you make. Two, it's an expensive car that will not forgive your wallet for any mistakes you make if you get my drife. (Those engines and transmissions ain't cheap to fix!) I would start with a little used NON TURBO car. I know it's not the hotrod of your dreams but at least if you mess that one up, you didn't mess up the hotrod of your dreams lol. Once you have some driving experience under your belt (and by driving experience I don't mean a couple weeks, I mean a year or two) Then when you are ready, step up to that beast. A couple of plusses to this are that by then, the EVO X's should be a bit less expensive, and if you prove to be a good driver, your insurance won't be quite as high
