Does anyone out there repair the old style record players?.My turntable won't rotate without help from me.
When I put it in start mode it won't turn unless I help it.It will then get up to speed.When the record has finished again it slows right down and needs help to complete the cycle. The deck is a Garrard,I think 1000 model.My thoughts are that the turntable drive wheel is worn.Also does anyone know where I can scource parts from? Please help Kevin
It's probably the bearings on the squirrel cage motor that drives the turntable drive (jockey) wheel. Try a bit of 3-in-1 machine oil or similar on the motor bearings. Your chances of finding spares are close to zero other than from a car boot sale.
