2n3055 based flyback driver?
i made a 2n3055 based flyback driver according to this website: http://www.powerlabs.org/flybackdriver.htm , and nothing happens. i don't have the resistors, so i used two carefully tuned potentiometers. would this cause it to fail? where can i get the right resistors (physical store or from a pcb, i can't order online)? radioshack doesn't have anything anywhere close to the kind i need, and i tested dozens of resistors i had without finding anything anywhere close.
There can be quite a few reasons (I mean: things you could have done wrong) why "nothing happens"....
At first glance, I am concerned about your statement "...carefully tuned potentiometers..."
Most potentiometers are not rated at 1Watt, let alone 5Watt, and that's what these 2 resistors are supposed to be. So maybe your 240Ohm "potentiometer" is already fried....
Another thing you can try is to reverse the 2 wires from the feedback coil. The phase has to match the primary coil, or else it won't oscillate.
Finally, if people would always add whereabout they live, it would be so much easier to give shopping advice....

The 240Ohm 5W resistor is their part number 240W-5-ND
The 27 Ohm 1W resistor is their part number 27W-1-ND
(they look different than Powerlab's photo, but are electrically the same, and of better quality).
