I am wondering what amp to get for my Sony XSLE121D Dual 12" Ported Enclosure Subwoofer?
I am new at this and i dont quite understand if how amps work. if they say a 2 channel amp has 2x600 does that mean i can just use 1 600 and power a mono configuration sub system or what?

I told you once...
You need a mono amp that's 600 watts RMS @ 4 ohm.
2 x 600 means it will power TWO 600 watt speakers.
There's no sense in buying a 2-channel amp just to bridge it to a mono channel when a mono amp will do just fine (actually mono amps are made for subs).
Be sure to set the gain (level) on the amp right.
The purpose of the gain is to match the signal volts RMS coming from the source (CD player, etc.) to the input of the amp for correct power matching and to minmize clipping.

You'll need a multi-meter (AC voltmeter, $15 from Radio$hack), Microsoft Excel and a way to burn an audio CD from an MP3 (test tone included).
