O2 returns policy?
I've just got a new Sony Ericsson which has a fault with the camera flash. My original contract was booked online and is just coming to an end - O2 then phoned and negotiated a new tariff and the phone upgrade.
The O2 shop in my hometown wouldn't take the phone back and told me I had to do it through customer services. I phoned them, was told a door-to-door swap would be arranged, and then it emerged that the upgrade team had called me.
Apparently now I am 'not an online customer' and therefore cannot have the door-to-door service, even though my original contract was online (albeit through a third party site).
They now want me to post a £250 phone freepost, where do I stand if the phone never gets there? Why should I stand the cost of using registered post when they've supplied me with faulty goods? Why can the shop, as representatives of the company, not do a simple exchange? Input from any O2 workers welcomed.
That's the way it is although you could ask if an o2 shop could forward it for you to save the cost and for extra peace of mind. You could call the customer services on 0161-705 5000 My personal recomendation would be that as you have a handset worth a decent amount then bear the cost and send it "Special Delivery" the silver envelope at the post office and at least you will get it repaired free. Just in case you don't know all sony-ericsson handsets carry a two year warranty on the handset and one year on the battery, charger, and accesories.
