Speaker wire + - silver/copper question?
I have the BIG monster speaker wire (yea I know I just paid for the name)
the wires seem to be a copper color on one side and a lighter color on the other, does it matter which wire goes to the red/black binding posts. as long as its the same on speaker/amp?
I just reconnected my system, and it don't seem to sound as good, the center seems OK, but the front L & R seem diffrent, like maybe I messed up on the speaker wiring. Many Thanks
No it doesn't matter as long as it is consistent. Electrons don't know what color the wire is. This is a + vs. - problem. The trick is to connect the + of the amplifier to the + of the speaker ( the same for the - ) on ALL of the speakers. If you get one wrong that speaker will be out of phase and the most noticeable symptom will be loss of bass response. I'd double check and / or just to be sure disconnect them all and connect the red one to + on everything.
