I haven't tried it yet, but I was curious to know if the original Nintendo (NES, or SNES for that matter) would work on a high-definition television (lcd or plasma, either one). Does anyone have any experience with a setup like this?
It will work as long as you have the correct input type on your television. NES would generally use a composite video cable (sometimes S-video); most TVs have at least one composite video input, and many still have a S-video in as well.
Just keep in mind that the NES was a low-resolution gaming system; LCD and plasma TVs must upscale any content to their native resolution. This means that the picture might look stretched and grainy. It would look much better on an analog or standard-definition CRT TV, even a very old one.
