Yes, it's possible, but you will need a preamplifier. No converter, though. You have to get the audio from the turntable needle up to the strength that you need for the PC.
I run a turntable to my sound card's line in jacks. If you have a laptop or a desktop without a line in jack, a USB connection might be the way to go. I'm not familiar with them myself, but they are available. With USB, you might also be able to find one that gets its power from the USB port so that you don't need a separate power supply for the preamp.
Finally, you can also use your computer's mic input if there is no line in. It's a little less convenient, because you'll have to adjust the mic volume to make sure you're not under- or overdriving your computer's audio. Line in and line out circuits are set to a standard level. That's the only difference.
