Can I fish and listen to music?
I live on a decent sized lake and want to fish off my dock, but also want to listen to music through a stereo or something. I'm not fishing for food or seriously, but I'd like to at least reel in a few. Will the vibrations from the music travel through my dock and scare away the fish in the water?
Fish can be pretty skittish, but more importantly, docks can be dangerous. Listen to low music sounds fine, but if you plan to have it loud, it can scare fish, and it can make it impossible for anyone to hear a cry for help if you fall in the water.
It's a good idea to have your ears out for any sound around any body of water, so I do not recommend headphones either. Sure maybe there will be no emergencies 99 time out of 100, but you wouldn't want to miss the sound of that big catfish jumping either.
Take a battery operated radio, leave it at a volume low enough to talk over with your "inside voice" and good luck.
