A woman on yahoo pictures using a horse as a guide because she is blind?

Might anyone know what portion of Muslim religion forbids the use of a dog as a guide? That scares me.
I am only thinking it might be because they do not keep pets indoors?
The Muslim religion does not forbid the use of guide dogs. Some individuals of the Muslim faith believe that it does, but this is a societal, not religious issue.

In the Muslim faith there are committees of "elders" (correctly called Imams), whose job it is is to interpret writings and apply them to modern day situations. This committee issues rulings called fatwa as guidances to practice of the Muslim faith.
Here's how the guide dog situation works:
Dogs are considered unclean. They are not to be kept as pets. However, it is recognized that they have legitimate uses for guarding and herding. These two uses are recognized in ancient writings. A guide dog is a working dog, no different than a guard or herding dog, so keeping and using one is permitted.
The young woman in the article seems to be a pawn in a political scheme. You see, the U.S. Department of Justice is working on changing the definition of "service animal" under the ADA. The new definition will exclude exotic animal choices, including miniature horses. There are those who make a living training these horses who are mounting a campaign to find some reason not to exclude them. They latched on to this Muslim faith idea and found someone to be their spokes person.
What the articles fail to discuss is the fact that this young woman has had no orientation and mobility instruction. She hasn't even been taught to use a cane because her family won't permit it. How can a cane be against faith? Guide dog schools require their clients to be proficient in cane skills as well as orientation before they apply for a guide dog. Why? Because the guide can't really tell you where you are, only what obstacles are in the way. The blind need special training and skills in counting steps, intersections, and doorways to keep track of where they are at all times in their own head. This young woman hasn't had that training. She can't make any real use of a guide animal because she can't orient herself. She still needs people to guide her, even if she has a cute miniature horse in tow.
