Windows media player 11 will not play properly through my 5.1 surround speaker system...?
For some reason WMP11 will only play through the front left and right speakers of my 5.1 surround. I even downloaded SRS sandbox to fix the problem, but it still won't work. I ran the diagnostics test that is included in the software for my 5.1 sound card, and it plays through all the speakers correctly. I also use sony acid pro 7, which allows you to pan your recordings to surround sound. This works fine as well. Can anyone help me?

I figured it out tho. I just had to activate the CMSS 3D within my software that came with the sound card. works fine now.
What do you try to play with WMp11 that is 5.1? DVD movies?
WMP11 by itself is not even coming with a DVD player, but if you install another DVD player it should play OK. I assume you want to decode 5.1 directly on your PC and pass all audio out? (vs sending bitstream via s/pdif). In the DVD menu, have you selected Dolby Digital?
make sure also that:
Control Panel -> Sound -> Speakers -> Configure you chose 5.1 Surround
