What skis would you reccomend ?
I'm 38, 5 foot 6 and weigh 9.5 stone. I would say I'm a technically proficient skier, and currently use a cheap pair of "Orion" carvers. I ski every year at "Les Tros Valleys" in the french alps, and really enjoy red runs like "David Duliet", "Alamandes", "Venturon" etc etc. My main weaknes as a skier is that I don't feel confident sking fast, particulary on "Crud" snow that appears later in the day, and I find myself wasting a lot of energy braking when skiing in Crud instead of going for it. I can Negotiate Black runs like "Leo Lecroix" but with little style and with sore quads at the end !
I would like a pair of skis that will help me improve my speed, give me confidence to go faster, and just enjoy blasting the red runs even more. I am happy to buy a used pair rather than forking out £400 odd pound for a brand new pair.
I have heard that "Volkl" are good ski as are K2's
Any advice ?

Sounds like you just enjoy skiing nothing special no parks no back country so an all mountain ski is probably what you want Volkl is a fantastic ski company but can be very expensive. K2 is also a good brand I own some myself but there best skis are made for back country (coombas) or are for the park such as the Hellbents. So to actually help you instead of just talking about specialty skis I will recommend a few pairs.
