Maintenance on a 2001 Mercedes CLK430?
Hey y'all, my parents are wanting to buy me a 2001 Mercedes CLK430, AMG pkg, for college. It has 99k miles on it, just had the 100k miles svc done, new brakes, great tires, original manual, window sticker & ALL maintenance records. It's also been indoors or covered at ALL times. Now I'm just wondering how much regular maintenance and upkeep will be costing myself. Thanks so much!
You'll need to change the oil, all filters, replace brake pads and rotors, check fluid levels regularly and replace them as needed. You should be able to do, or learn to do all those things on your own. There's more advantage to its German engineering than how good it feesl to drive. You'll already have a well made vehicle. Maintain it, and you'll seldom have problems. It always kind of tickles me when people talk about how much it cost to fix them. I'd watch those same people put $4000 on a new transmission for a Honda Odyssey that was 5 years old. If tended well, and driven well, you may never need to service your transmission in the life time of the vehicle. The next thing you'll appreciate about your car's engineering is how easy it is to service, once you know what you're doing. The brakes are so easy to change yourself, once you learn, you'd never pay a service station. The internet has a ton of information. If you're willing to go the DIY route, you could easily keep the car running smoothly, for years, for less than $500 a year.
