Can USB-TV tuners communicate with Direct TV/Charter Cable boxes to record shows?
I currently use charter cable service. I plan to get myself a net-top with a USB TV Tuner Stick with Clear QAM. I am wondering whether I can use this TV-tuner to record shows (like a DVR). I know it works for air channels, but I am not sure if this TV-tuner can communicate with the cable box to find the particular channel that it is pre-scheduled to record. If this is not possible with cable, can I do that with Direct TV? I would appreciate any inputs/comments from experienced users

Yes its possible with directv or a cable box. You need an ir blaster to plug into the computer. They usually cost around 20 dollars and work with windows media center.
