sorrowing at dawning sky
watch the mourning doves pass by
shroud of black and clod of clay
hazy images mark the day
tired hand scratches page
unrequited love is host
to a glimmering of chance
uncounted blessings are now lost
windy blowing spiraled leaves
lone trav'ler rolling down the sleeves
hangs his head and pushes on
through leaves piled on the lawn
september exits in a pall of grey
footprints have been washed away
moisture on the mornings air
glistens, gems strewn here and there
winsome wraith of summers past
comes to haunt; her shadow casts
a form so like the child i lost
and in my heart is early frost
screeching banshee on the winds
pulls me back through time again
crow that perches on my fence
with black eye threatens innocence
it has come to me, this thought
a sallow face that man forgot
haloed by once beautiful spark
closes eyes to the eternally dark
paying mind to the way I am reading this the first verse was an excellent rhythm then it fell off a bit, I am not a poetry snob by any means yet I want to read this and anything that is written in poetic form not having to think about where to put the emphasis, you or I need to do that for the reader, I have a large issue with it and if we can over come that one thing, we might be awesome,
