Where did my Dolby digital go?
O.K. So I have an Xbox 360 and an Onkyo receiver. When I use a fiber optic audio cable out of the xbox straight into the receiver I get Dolby digital and the front of my receiver reads "D.D." for Dolby digital! Then I purchased a new 360 previous one expired. The new one has HDMI out so great I get to go buy a $50 HDMI cable. I know I can still use the original connection but I want to stick with the HDMI. So I run this HDMI cable into my T.V. It's a Samsung LCD flat screen with an optical audio out.Run the optical out to my receiver but no Dolbly digital only all channel stereo. I have messed with all the menu settings on the receiver and the T.V.? Any help getting me back in Dolby would be so well,.......... AWESOME!
It would be better to run HDMI from your xbox to your receiver and then to your TV. That way you can use your receiver to switch the HDMI from your cable box and your xbox. Plus it will solve this issue you're having.
